10 Fashionable Bed Reads For Lazy Weekends

On most days I am like most millennials glued to my phone replying emails, DMs, posting and liking to my heart’s content. Though, once every odd month, I like to disappear and drop off the grid if not to the countryside or a sandy beach, some plump feather beds with soft cotton sheets will do just fine.

Joining me for a snuggle beneath the sheets are always some sweet accompaniments(try these|Handmade Biscuiteer Biscuits Here!) and my gold rimmed geek chic glasses. I’m ready to take on the lazy weekend with a stack of these easy reads for pure stress-free entertainment.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

      1.  Garance Dore |Love x Style x Life

Lauded blogger Garance Dore has garnered a significant following throughout the years. Even Gwyneth (Paltrow) appeared on her blog- yes she sure did!  It’s no surprise her book makes us keen to discover our own personal style. Late in the game, she commenced her blogging career in her mid-30s. Now 40, she takes us through her early life, travels and lessons learned with beautiful illustrations dotted about her book. A must read for every style aficionado.

      2. Where Stylists Shop: The Fashion Insider’s Ultimate Guide

Fashion editor Booth Moore of the Hollywood Reporter curates a selection of fashion tips from the industry’s top stylists, designers and tastemakers. This book is for that shopaholic nomad with recommendations on the best places to shop no matter what country you may jet set to.

      3.  Diane Von Furstenberg |The Woman I Wanted to Be

I wasn’t always a person drawn to ‘memoirs’ of any sort though my interest in fashion has always been obvious. This book surprised me with her honesty about every aspect of her life. I had begun reading it with only a connection to her renowned wrap dress but completed it with a deep care and closeness to her. Diane’s positivity shines through the entire read and it is truly inspirational. One of our favourites to indulge under the covers. Not the first time I’ve mentioned this fabulous read see this post here

      4. The Curated Closet: Discover Your Personal Style and Build Your Dream Wardrobe

Berlin based style blogger Anushka Rees runs you through a series of checklists and questionnaires to help you filter out what you can keep and do without in your closet.

      5. Kevin Kwan|Rich People Problems: A Novel

I first came across Kevin Kwan the Singaporean author when I read Crazy Rich Asians the satirical saga of three super rich Asian families now making it on screen with an exciting cast consisting of Fresh Off the Boat’s, Constance Wu and Henry Golding, a Brit-Malaysian-Singaporean.

Kwan’s brand new final book in the trilogy is a fun tabloid romp with over the top shenanigans and more flash than depth but that’s what I’m looking for on a lazy weekend in bed, some laugh out loud moments how about you?

      6. Christian Dior|The Little Dictionary of Fashion: A Guide to Dress Sense for Every Woman

Originally published in 1954 and written by the legend himself. This book speaks of style and etiquette in the eyes of DIOR at that time. An interesting peep into the 50s with beautiful original illustrations included. It makes also the perfect gift with perhaps some Dior lip gloss for that special fashion obsessed someone.

      7. Betty Halbreich|I’ll Drink to That: New York’s Legendary Personal Shopper and Her Life in Style – With a Twist

Betty Halbreich, Bergdorf Goodman’s most legendary personal shopper with a career spanning 40 years, she takes us on a journey as she dresses the fashionably elite.

      8. Kate Spade | Kate spade new york: all in good taste

This book would make a lovely gift for a girl who loves to entertain. With quirky fun party ideas, it’s a wonderful guide to being the perfect hostess and great conversation starter of a coffee table book.

      9. Where’s Karl?: A Fashion Forward Parody

This fun-filled book is “Where’s Wally?” for fashionistas. Familiar scenes like the Met Gala make a cameo appearance along with notable characters like Kim Kardashian and Anna Wintour.

      10. Aimee Song | Capture Your Style: Transform Your Instagram Photos, Showcase Your Life, and Build the Ultimate Platform

Insta-sensation Aimee Song takes us through the how-tos of getting a good grasp on social media. A practical guide navigating apps and finding your perfect angle. Filled with beautiful photos showcasing her unique style, this is a must have guidebook for any aspiring style blogger or the insta-obsessed.
