The Badass Bomber

I love how fashion is cyclical and how there are key pieces that always become relevant again. If in doubt, always go monochrome for a chic effortless take on any ensemble.

The Chinese Lunar New Year is just around the corner and “as tradition goes,” I decided to do the onerous task of a closet spring clean (which I’m told promotes a good flow of Chi).

During my spring clean, I stumbled upon this Ol’ Bomber, instantly it brought back images of high school P.E and saluting the sun with right-angled arms, bat in hand, as our coach yelled: “Batter Up!”

Hitting a Home Run

As much as our high school coach and Beyonce videos did to hammer home a home run on the field and in life- if we keep our eye on the ball and hustle; there are still times in our adult life when we will be marred by the stains of disappointments or find it difficult to hold our head up high.

Consequently, speaking to women of substance, who no matter how successful in their careers or how privileged their life was, there would always be a moment when they needed a boost of self-confidence.

Was it that backstabbing colleague at work, a friend or more shockingly, a family member that needed to earn back those brownie points? So Yes, you could reach for that big a*s tub of Haagen Daz and feel sorry for yourself or you could slap on that outfit that makes you feel like you have one of those photo studio fans that blows your hair into its most flattering position, wherever you go.

So how do we offset the hard hustle of a career woman/mother or both and still find room to have renewed faith in others?

Adorning Your Armour

Aside from compartmentalising your disillusionment, it is comforting to know that we can throw on our Queen Bey Run This World armour, in the form of an androgynous bomber (or whatever that maybe for you – a slay-everyday in it leather jacket perhaps).

Grow a pair in the process. Wave our Girl Power Banners. Namaste our way to the next meeting, after vertigo-filled yoga dates; sometimes apologetically with baby-in-tow, cutting through the noise of judgemental onlookers and still revel in that safe haven of simple pleasures and luxuries (sunrises, morning matcha, candles, God and family time).

Turning Lemons into Lemonade

Channeling your energy into a hyggelig afternoon of casualness and comfort, sporting your very best warrior outfit and perhaps catching an outdoor movie marathon accessorising with a large wooly blanket may just be the answer to putting that spring back in your step. To turn those lemons into lemonade.

Every Girl Needs Her Armour To Battle Those Tough Days!

What’s yours?
